The team at PrivacyDuck scans the web for your personal information and requests removal from such sites. The company notes on its website that it doesn’t outsource or contract work—the people who perform the services are in LA.
Whichever service package you choose, unlimited name variations, previous addresses, and other prior data factor into the search and removal process. Other services sometimes limit the number of name variations they’ll address, so this is a helpful perk with PrivacyDuck.
So, how does PrivacyDuck source and remove your private information from people search sites?
PrivacyDuck’s process features five steps, which they term the Five Ports. The same process works for all levels of service.
For the initial step, PrivacyDuck’s team manually searches websites for your information. When they find the information, they initiate removal with a combination of opt-out processes. Depending on the website or company that has your information, PrivacyDuck might send emails, submit forms, send documents via the mail, or call the companies.
The initial stage involves multiple information sweeps, too. Once this is complete, the team sends the initial Privacy Report to you. But you’ll soon receive a Privacy Report Update, too, which will summarize the action that the team took and where your information stands.
It notes which data companies still have your information (pending form submissions and other details) and which have erased you from their databases.
Port Two involves monitoring of removal request submissions. It also includes multiple sweeps and “clean-up” processes, per PrivacyDuck.
The third port is a Google clean-up, which focuses on deleting irrelevant search results from Google. Because of the way Google’s search results populate, the summary information may show up on searches, even though the link is broken.
PrivacyDuck uses Google’s Dead Link Submission Form to notify Google that it has a dead link in its search results. With this method, the result usually drops off in a few days. It’s worth noting that the results eventually drop off on their own anyway (PrivacyDuck says it takes three to six weeks). Of course, faster is usually better when your reputation comes into play.
The fourth port is a monitoring step that tracks whether your data repopulates on people search websites. Since many databases copy one another, it’s possible that a site that takes longer to remove your information could still be sharing it with other sites. Even a site that has previously scrubbed your information could wind up repopulating it from somewhere else.
The final port involves continuous monitoring and frequent reporting (once per month). At this point, most of your data should disappear from people search sites—and it shouldn’t come back. If it does, the team is on it and will continue scrubbing until your subscription term runs out.
While some other sites use dashboards to give you real-time reports on where you stand, PrivacyDuck doesn’t do that. Their reasoning? The company says that such panels are not secure and put customer information at risk.
They also explain that requiring you to log in with yet another password means more stress and data management for consumers.
At the same time, PrivacyDuck claims to only use manual search methods—with real humans—for their work. Instead of software to scan for your personal data, they have small teams of highly-screened employees oversee each process.

Right now, PrivacyDuck plans span three options. Current pricing comes from their late-2017/2018 guide to services—which the company anticipates updating in late 2019. Each plan includes follow-up reports per month for the entire subscription term.
